Where the footprint was
Pennard mixes and fills water-based paints for trade customers. Two gas boilers heated the solvent recovery line around the clock, and they were 64% of direct emissions.
What changed
Half-hourly gas data in Loamra showed the boilers running at full output on weekends with the line stopped. Pennard fitted two industrial heat pumps and moved the recovery line onto a daytime schedule.
Where it is heading
Scope 1 and 2 fell from 9,400 to 6,960 tonnes. Titanium dioxide from suppliers is the next target, with three pigment makers now reporting real figures.
The boiler room used to be a black box. Now it has its own line on the board.
